Obelus 2020

The Wine: Obelus 2020 Caleb Leisure Obelus 2020 is a red natural wine made from a blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Cinsault, and 20% Mourvedre co-Fermented in qvevri (big terracotta amphorae) and macro bin, pressed after 7-10 days in to qvevri and nuetral oak for elevage. The grapes are farmed organically in Calaveras, Sierra Foothills, California. No additions. The Producer: Caleb Leisure Caleb Leisure Wines is a small, one-person (aided greatly by the help of friends and family) natural wine project housed in Glen Ellen, CA. In 2014, after career adventures in academia and cheese, and formative internships in France, I returned to my native California to begin my own wine project. Before the 2017 harvest, I buried ten authentic Georgian qvevri in the earthen cellar at Coturri Winery. My winemaking is guided by ancient Georgian traditions and by properly grown organic and biodynamic California fruit.
