The Wine: Doccia Fredda Orange 2020 Controvento Doccia Fredda Orange is a skin-contact natural wine (orange wine) from Abruzzo, Central Italy, made from a blend of certified organic 60% Trebbiano, and 40% Passerina grapes. Spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tank, 5 days maceration on the skins, unfined, unfiltered, no added sulfites. Doccia Fredda is a refreshing and bright orange wine, with notes of citrus and white flowers. The Producer: Controvento Controvento is a winery located in Rocca San Giovanni, Province of Chieti, Abruzzo, Central Italy, led by Vincenzo Di Meo. Vincenzo is originally from Bacoli, Campania, Southern Italy. Vincenzo's father bought some land in Rocca San Giovanni at the end of the 1970s planting some vineyards and starting what now has become a 5-hectares organic farm, Controvento – against the wine. Vincenzo mostly works with Montepulciano, Trebbiano, but also small quantities of Passerina, Fiano, and Malvasia. Vincenzo follows a non-interventionist approach in the cellar; fermentations are spontaneous with indigenous yeast, no sulfites are used at any stage of production.
