The Wine: Beaujolais Primeur 2021 Séléné Beaujolais Primeur is a red natural wine made from 100% organic Gamay grapes from Beaujolais, France. No added sulfites at bottling for a very fresh Beaujolais to be enjoyed with a simple pasta with tomato sauce or charcuterie plate. The Producer: Séléné • Sylvere Trichard Sylvere Trichard is a young vigneron who lives in the small hamlet of Blace, a village in Beaujolais. In 2012, after interning with Domaine Belluard and working at Domaine Lapalu, Sylvere took over his uncles 4ha of vines. Since 1998 the 4ha had been farmed organically (certified Ecocert) and biodynamically under the previous domaine called Domaine de Fully. Sylvere returned to biodynamic farming in 2018. His wines go through semi-carbonic maceration and are aged mostly in concrete vats or large wooden casks. The wines are bottled without fining, filtration or SO2 when feasible. The estate, with a surface of 6ha, is divided into two sections. In one part, the soil is composed of silt and loam and a gentle slope going towards a small stream. The second part of the estate is within the village's zone and is made of sand and granite. The vines' ages range from 20 to 80 years old. The cuvee Gisous comes from a parcel of 80 years old vines, facing North/East. Gisous is a tribute to Sylvere's grandmother who lives next door. New this year, we are introducing his Primeur Beaujolais 2020, which has gained quite a following in France and Japan. The Region: Beaujolais The Beaujolais wine region is located south of Burgundy. It stretches for about 50km from the town of Mâcon and its characteristic rolling hills to the flatlands bordering the regional capital and world-renown culinary center Lyon on the north. Beaujolais wine region is split in two by the Nizerand River. The north of the river is where we find the Crus and Beaujolais Villages, whereas south of the river is where Beaujolais and Beaujolais Nouveau are made. Gamay is the dominant grape varietal of the region giving its best when grown on the granite and sandy clay soils north of the Nizerand River and made into Beaujolais Crus and Beaujolais Villages easy-drinking delicious wines. There are ten Beaujolais Crus where the best Beaujolais are made: Brouilly, Chenas, Chiroubles, Cote de Brouilly, Fleurie, Julienas, Morgon, Moulin-a-Vent, Regnie, and Saint-Amour., The Region: Beaujolais
